Alocasias like to be pampered a bit more than your average foliage plant, as they love consistently moist soil. Water them regularly, usually about once a week depending on your home’s temperature and humidity, and go for the classic drench-and-drain method. Too much water can lead to soggy soil, root rot, or fungal issues, so keep it moist but never swampy.

If the soil dries out completely, the lower leaves might turn brown and drop — a gentle reminder your plant needs a drink. These tropical beauties also thrive in high humidity, so a nearby humidifier is a game-changer. Skip misting, though. Water directly on the leaves can make them prone to rot and infections.
