Alocasia Watering

Alocasias like to be pampered a bit more than your average foliage plant, as they love consistently moist soil. Water them regularly, usually about once a week depending on your home’s temperature and humidity, and go for the classic drench-and-drain method. Too much water can lead to soggy soil, root rot, or fungal issues, so keep it moist but never swampy.

If the soil dries out completely, the lower leaves might turn brown and drop — a gentle reminder your plant needs a drink. These tropical beauties also thrive in high humidity, so a nearby humidifier is a game-changer. Skip misting, though. Water directly on the leaves can make them prone to rot and infections. Treat them right, and your Alocasia will reward you with bold, dramatic foliage.

Alocasia Lighting Care

Alocasias love bright, indirect light. A sunny room is perfect, just keep them out of harsh, direct rays, or those stunning leaves might get scorched. If you place them near a window, a sheer curtain works wonders to filter the light just right. Keep an eye on them in the warmer months as well. Summer sun can get intense, so a slightly shadier spot might be best to keep your Alocasia happy and thriving.
