Pothos Watering

Pothos like to stay comfortably moist, so check the top inch or two of soil and water about once a week, or whenever it feels dry. If the leaves start to droop a little, don’t panic! It just means your Pothos is ready for a drink, and it’ll bounce back in no time. Yellowing leaves paired with healthy new growth? That’s usually a sign of overwatering.

These easygoing plants also love a bit of humidity, though they’re perfectly happy in drier air too. Want to give your Pothos a little natural spa treatment? Pop it in the bathroom — it’ll soak up the steam from your showers and feel right at home.

Pothos Lighting

Pothos are true chameleons when it comes to light — they can thrive in almost any spot! Brighter light will speed up growth and bring out more variegation, but even in lower light, your Pothos will happily hang out. That adaptability is exactly what makes them such a beginner-friendly, go-with-the-flow plant.

If the leaves start turning greener, it’s just your Pothos reaching for more light to fuel its energy. For the happiest, healthiest growth (and the brightest variegation), aim for bright, indirect light whenever you can.
