Tradescantia Watering
Tradescantia likes lightly moist soil, so water when the top inch feels dry. For most homes, that ends up being about once a week, but your schedule may shift with the season. In more humid or cooler conditions, watering may stretch to every 10–14 days. In hot, dry, or bright spaces, you may need to water a bit more often.
A droopy or slightly limp Tradescantia is usually asking for a drink, so keep an eye on its leaves until you get a sense of its rhythm in your home. These plants also appreciate higher humidity, making a bathroom a great spot; the extra steam keeps their foliage lush and prevents crispy edges.
Tradescantia Lighting
Tradescantia loves bright light, but prefers it filtered. Aim for bright, indirect light to keep the foliage vibrant and prevent leaf scorch. They can handle some gentle direct sun, especially morning light, but too much strong sun will burn the leaves.
In low light, Tradescantia will stretch out (become leggy) and may lose its signature variegation, so be sure it has plenty of brightness to stay full and colorful.
