It’s super simple to plop a potted plant on your dresser and call it a day, but if you want to achieve an Instagram-worthy plant aesthetic, you need to up your decor game. And it’s easy to do plant decor on a budget with these tips.

Thrifted plant decor

Plant stands add a stylish flair to your decor and can be arranged in multiple levels to make a visually appealing display -- but at full price some of them can be really expensive! Create your own plant stand by looking for small circular or square tables in varying heights, or stack some crates to add visual texture. You can hit some local thrift stores, estate sales, and garage sales to mix and match small furniture pieces that fit in with your style. Grab a few different types of shallow wicker baskets to add more boho flair.

Get crafty

Adding paint, textiles, wood, or other embellishments to your thrift finds can upgrade the look in an instant. For example, if you find a table that’s perfect in size but has some scratches or isn’t the right color, sand it and paint it whatever color matches your decor, or wrap the legs in sisal rope and place an upcycled marble cutting board or mirror on top for a completely new look.
